Home Made Fish Head Noodle

Wonder what is fish head noodle? A local Chinese delicacy not as common elsewhere. A not really popular thing among youngsters but it can mean a lot to some people.. like my parents are really into it!

Basically fish head noodle does not really served with “thick noodle”.. but meephun (or vermicelli)! Fish head is chopped and fried into crispy; soup is cooked with tomatoes and marinated veggies (some must-have ingredients) and MILK!! Yes, it’s milk and that’s why milky colour!

This one in Mid Valley is not bad! Go try!!

Lion Dance

One of the tradition to repel evil spirits and bring prosperity.. and Malaysia has its world champion lion dance!! I can still recall lion dance is more common during my childhood time.. which it is something you would never miss during CNY..

It’s now lucky if you managed to meet one! It’s more than surprise when I meet one in SCB!! Just nice and awesome! It means more than just a dance! I had a strong lucky feeling!! ^^V

1654_20100219_007_SCB Lion Dance 1655_20100219_010_SCB Lion Dance

As majority of Malaysian Chinese is ancestrally originated from south China.. South Lion Dance is more commonly practiced than North Lion Dance.

石好

恭喜恭喜!大年初一,兼情人节快乐!

今天的特备节目是“花田囍事2010”在Times Square!

1622_20100214_001_CNY_Me

BBQ Plaza

1629_20100214_010_Sek Hou 1628_20100214_009_Sek Hou

特价品,主席鸡!名字都怪怪的。。RM3.50 一只!其实是童子鸡。

1630_20100214_011_Sek Hou

川椒玉环炸鲜鱿!失败!淡而无味!

1631_20100214_012_Sek Hou

“花田囍事2010”如何?“得啖笑”啰!

Lou Sang

‘Lou Sang’ simple means mixing the raw in Cantonese.. refers to a kind of salads with raw fish served only during the Chinese New Year in Malaysia. It is interesting to note that this delicacy is practiced only by Malaysian Chinese.. and in a lesser extent by Chinese of neighbouring countries.

The term ‘Lou Sang’ actually depicts the action how the dish is served. Salads of various colours, crispy crackers and sliced raw fish (sliced abalone and sliced jelly fish are optional) are served and these ingredients are carried up high using chopsticks and mixed up by the diners.

The dish is more appropriately referred as Yee Sang (raw fish) during Chinese New Year. It is a special dish to ‘bring up’ the ‘prosperity’ and it carries the people’s hope for best luck, health and wealth for the coming whole year.

So, let’s ‘lou sang’!!

Roaring Year of Tiger

It’s the roaring Year of Tiger this 2010!!

1650_20100119_112_Wen

Chinese New Year or the Lunar New Year is the first and the most important traditional Chinese festival of the year!

1613_20100204_003_CNY_GE 1612_20100204_002_CNY_GE

Chinese festivals can be grouped into 2: one based on the Lunar Calendar, i.e. the moon; and the other based on the Jie Qi (节气), i.e. the 24 seasons.

1615_20100213_007_CNY_Home Deco 1614_20100213_006_CNY_Home Deco

Hence, festivals based on Jie Qi, like Dong Zhi and Qing Ming, will almost always fall on the same date in the Gregorian calendar every year. And festivals based on the Lunar Calendar (in fact a Lunisolar Calendar by Chinese), like New Year and Mid-Autumn festival, will go according to the Lunar Calendar, which may shuffle each year in the Gregorian Calendar.

1617_20100213_009_CNY_Home Deco

Most celebration customs and rituals are basically to welcome luck and to repel evils!

Being the second largest ethnic group in Malaysia, Chinese New Year is celebrated widely in the nation, and the Capital welcomes a brief moment of peace.. less crowd and no traffic jam..

GONG XI FA CAI!!
